Fashions on the Field 2019

The Erina Fair Fashions on the Field competition returns to Gosford on Tuesday 5th November for the annual Star 104.5 Melbourne Cup Picnic Race Day.


  • Best Dressed Lady (Over 18)
  • Best Dressed Gentleman (Over 18)
  • Best Dressed Couple
  • Best Millinery

Online entries close at 4pm on 4/11/19 – Entry forms can be found on the day at the Milk & Honey Hair & Beauty Bar *Entries close at 12.30pm


Judges will look for an aesthetically pleasing spring racing outfits paying particular attention to spring fashion trends and originality;

– Ladies must wear a headpiece, either a hat or fascinator that compliments her outfit
– Attention to detail including headpiece, bag, jewellery and shoes
– Outfit must be appropriate; exposed shoulders, plunging necklines and miniskirts are not appropriate race day attire
– Hosiery (stockings) are not compulsory
– Appropriate grooming and deportment

– Gentlemen are permitted to wear trousers, chinos or dress shorts
– Gentlemen must wear a tie or bowtie
– Jacket is optional
– Attention to detail of accessories such as cufflinks, lapel flower, hat and handkerchief may be considered

– Style and design of millinery
– Appropriate spring fashion (felt is not acceptable for spring)
– Quality and workmanship – technique, line & trim
– Millinery must compliment race day outfit


Judging will commence immediately after:
Race 2 (1.25pm) – Gentlemen and Millinery
Race 3 (2.30pm) – Ladies and Couples

Entrants must assemble adjacent to the Fashions Judging area – please form a queue as directed. Note: If you win the Millinery competition you are no longer eligible to compete in the Best Dressed category. (In the event of rain, an announcement will be made over the PA system). Late arrivals are not permissible due to judging required to fit in between scheduled race times.
