It was a successful weekend for Gosfords Angela Davies with her 5YO Uncle Mo gelding, Momack placing third in the opening heat of the Sky Summer Provincial Series at Wyong. Momack ridden by Apprentice Brandon Griffiths looked comfortable from the jump, slotting in nicely behind La Jolie Fille, until the last 400m when Kim Waugh’s Oxford Tycoon and Kris Lee’s Darleb battled it out for first and second before Davies Momack settled in third.

“He’s not generally a first up horse so it was a pleasant surprise. We will try and get one or two more races in before the final as his past results show he is largely more suited in his third or fourth start”  – said Davies

The first heat of the Sky Summer Provincial Series held at Wyong was run over 1350m however Davies is more confident with the final being held at Newcastle on Saturday 18th December and over a distance of 1600m.

“The mile certainly suits him better. The plan is to stretch him even further to at least 1900m.” – said Davies

In 2020 Davies took out the prestigious Polytrack Provincial Championships Final at Royal Randwick with a fairytale win from Through the Cracks and Melbourne Cup winning jockey James McDonald. A career highlight for the Gosford trainer and part owner.

“After taking out the Provincial Championships last year, it would be nice to back it up with another win in the Summer Provincial Series.” – Said Davies.

The next heat in the Sky Provincial Summer Series will be held at Kembla this Saturday before heading to Gosford on Saturday 20th November.
