Metro Stables Converge On Gosford Friday & Saturday

By Brenton Le Grand

There will be back-to-back racing at The Entertainment Grounds at Gosford this Friday and Saturday with leading metropolitan stables and jockey’s well represented. There’s over $550,000 in prize money on offer and some promising horseflesh on show across both meetings.

Chris Waller opts to take his Rubick colt Krameric to Gosford on Friday after being scratched from the Thursday Hawkesbury meeting. The three-year-old is looking to break his maiden status after already notching up three placings at stakes level as a two-year-old. He’s drawn perfectly in gate four for James McDonald, and Waller will look to use this race to build confidence and have some bigger fish to fry later in the preparation.

The Dovmac Mining And Construction Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1900m shapes to be a competitive event with three last start winners engaged including the recent Warren Cotton Cup winner Bells ‘N’ Bows aiming for four wins in a row. The five-year-old Starcraft mare again gets the services of Wendy Peel and her 3kg claim, and the step up to 1900m looks ideal.

The Luke Hilton Class 1 Handicap over 1600m on the Saturday card is stacked with promising types and the Godolphin runner Terroir is hoping to break a frustrating run of placings since winning on debut at Newcastle. The well-bred four-year-old Animal Kingdom mare has been odds on at her past two runs, but looks to have found the right race on Saturday.

Local trainer Adam Duggan saddles up Miss Valbonne in the Central Coast Mariners Class 1 Handicap over 1100m on Saturday fresh off breaking her maiden at Muswellbrook on November 5. The Duggan camp has had a positive start to the 2019/2020 season with two winners (20%) and three seconds (50%) from only ten starters but hoop Ashley Morgan will need to navigate from barrier 14 on her home surface.

Gates open at midday for both meetings with two-day ticket packages available
