As Gosford begins to prepare for the biggest racing event in the history of the club being the standalone race meeting on Saturday 9th May 2020, the prizemoney for the Gosford Gold Cup has increased to $250,000, up from $150,000 in 2019.

The listed Gold Cup, run over 2,100m will be the highlight event on Gosford’s Standalone Saturday meeting, which has been relocated from its current January date to Saturday 9th May 2020. Seven supporting races will join the cup including the $150,000 listed De Bortoli Takeover Target. There will be further announcements as to what the additional supporting races will be, although the day will have in excess of $1.1 million of prizemoney on offer.

“To host a standalone raceday is a great honour for a Provincial Club like ours and we only see it fitting that the Gold Cup gains the exposure and standing it deserves and this level of prizemoney achieves that outcome.” Daniel Lacey CEO of GRC stated.

“We have and will continue to work with Racing NSW to increase the awareness of racing on the Central Coast. This industry is immensely important in regional areas due to the high level of employment opportunities that it creates, not just on racedays via hospitality but every day via vets, jockeys, farriers, stable hands etc. The stronger this industry is the stronger local communities are. Racing NSW has identified this fact and the Gold Cup event is just one of the results.” Lacey concluded.

Michael Cusick, GRC Chairman commented “I would particularly like to thank Peter V’Landys (Racing NSW CEO) as without his vision for the industry we would not be hosting this event or be able to offer this exceptional level of prizemoney”.

Not only will guests experience high quality racing, they can also enjoy quirky pop-up bars, Fashions on the Field and more, including plenty of photo opportunities to capture their race day experience.

Hospitality packages are on sale now via www.theentertainmentgrounds.com.au as well as a select few sponsorship opportunities. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact the club on 02 4325 0461.
